Bowen Technique

This treatment is a simple, relaxing and gentle remedial therapy tool which uses a rolling movement over muscles or tendons in areas across the body. Performed through light clothing, the moves are short, firm but not hard, and are punctuated by moments of rest where the therapist may leave the room allowing the recipient’s body to adjust and rebalance itself.

This technique was developed by Tom Bowen(1916-1982) from Victoria, Australia in the 1950’s, where he called himself an osteopath until regulations prohibited that.

Physical pain responds well to Bowen therapy, especially back and joint pain, but any condition or disease may benefit from a treatment as it is holistic in approach. Three treatments are initially recommended lasting an hour each, but chronic conditions may benefit from a few more sessions.
